Edward L. Bryant, Senior Advisor, Public AffairsPfizer Global Research and Development, St. Louis LaboratoriesAs Senior Advisor, Public Affairs for Pfizer Global Research and Develop, St. Louis Laboratories, Ed Bryant brings over 10 years of expertise and training in developing and executing effective strategic and integrated communications solutions for a variety of for-profit and non-profit organizations. A hallmark of his work has been developing and executing communications and community engagement programs that are integrated with the goals and objectives of an organization, well executed, with meaningful and measurable results. With Pfizer he manages and helps coordinate the media and government relations functions of Pfizer’s St. Louis based research and development site. A particular focus of his work is to engage the public concerning the complex and valuable work of discovering and developing new medicines, specifically with audiences outside the pharmaceutical industry, including, but not limited to local and regional media, community leaders, and government officials. From 2002 to 2005 he was Director of Community Engagement and Communications for the St. Louis Regional Health Commission (RHC), where he was responsible for developing and strengthening the linkages between the RHC’s member organizations, government officials, the media and community groups.From 2000 to 2002, he worked as a public relations account supervisor with Kupper Parker Communications (KPC). At KPC he developed and executed successful community and media relations campaigns for a number of clients, including the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Saint Louis University, Domino Sugar, Express Scripts and The American Osteopathic Association.His earlier professional communications experience includes work with the US Census Bureau, the University of Memphis and the New Jersey Department of Human and Social Services. Ed serves the Coro Leadership Center of St. Louis as a member of its Board of Directors and is a volunteer with the United Way of Greater St. Louis, where he serves on their Community Investment Committee and co-chairs the Committee’s Community-Based Comprehensive Services Allocations Panel. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America Health Academy, the International Association of Business Communicators, the St. Louis American Health Advisory Committee, the Missouri Training and Employment Council, and FOCUS St. Louis. Ed holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Memphis and a master’s degree in public policy from Regent University. In addition, he has completed graduate level work in policy development at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He enjoys bicycling, reading presidential and political biographies, and listening to and singing jazz music. He and his wife, Mary, are the proud parents of two wonderful children.
