Description
Magellan now is offering MagTrack, an automated web-based system for ensuring seamless real time communication between all parties involved in the freight forwarding process: customer, agent and forwarder.
Magellan Logistics began in the mid 90s when David Thatcher saw a gap in the small to medium business market. He noticed forwarders and logistics providers were competing furiously for the big company accounts with little care and attention given to customers who were either entering the import/export space, or who simply had less freight to ship.
Rapidly establishing a reputation as a trouble-shooter, David soon became the solution expert for the particularly tricky freight issues facing many small to medium importers and exporters. David introduced pro-active customer service activity well before it was considered by most of his competitors. Setting up accountable internal structures even in the early stages, David built his foundation by employing people with a natural customer-focus.
Several years on, Magellan Logistics has become known as the industry's specialist for the SME import/export sector, a reputation based on the practical application of years of knowledge and experience, from dealing with challenging shipments to trouble-shooting the everyday issues small to medium companies face with their freight.
We chose the name Magellan in honour of one of history's greatest explorers. Ferdinand Magellan was the first man to find a way to circumnavigate the globe between 1519-21 during an action-packed voyage rife with mutiny and disaster.
An observer on the famous voyage described him: "[Magellan] was always the most constant in the greatest adversity....No other had so much talent, nor the ardour to learn how to go around the world ... " Ferdinand Magellan was the embodiment of courage, passion and tenacity. We think these are vital qualities for a company committed to bringing unprecedented standards of service to our industry.
