Synthes Inc. is a medical device company. The Company develops, produces and markets instruments, implants and biomaterials for the surgical fixation, correction and regeneration of the human skeleton and its soft tissues. It focuses its activities on three main areas: general traumatology, spinal surgery and cranio-maxillofacial surgery. In the field of biomaterials, the Company's products include resorbable implants and bone graft substitutes. Additionally, the Company has a power tools business, including development, manufacturing and distribution. Synthes Inc.'s distributors and more than 30 subsidiaries are managed by four area head offices: West Chester for North America; Miami for Latin America; Solothurn for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Sydney for Asia Pacific. Synthes Inc. also runs 12 manufacturing facilities in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the United States. Synthes Inc. is headquartered in West Chester, the United States.
