Beginning January 1, 2005, medical control extends to the life of a claim if an injured employee is referred to a physician or facility within an approved Medical Provider Network (absent a valid predesignation on file prior to an on-the-job injury or illness). Employers MPN accesses medical treatment though Prudent Buyer HCO, which utilizes Blue Cross of California's PPO (Blue Cross Network).
