Aviva plc, along with its subsidiaries, transacts life assurance and long-term savings business, fund management, and most classes of general insurance and health business through its subsidiaries, associates and branches in United Kingdom, Ireland, continental Europe, United States, Canada, Asia, Australia and other countries worldwide. The Company also invests in securities, properties, mortgages and loans and carries on the business of trading in property. The Company operates in four segments: longterm business, fund management, general insurance and health. In March 2007, the Company's Dutch business, Delta Lloyd Group completed the acquisition of Erasmus Groep BV. In October 2007, the Company sold its entire 7.9% stake in ABN Amro Holding NV. In November 2007, it announced the acquisition of Hamilton Insurance Company Ltd and Hamilton Life Assurance Company Ltd.
