The 453-bed Presbyterian Hospital in downtown Albuquerque is the largest critical-care hospital in New Mexico and has been the hospital most preferred for overall quality and image for the last ten years (Source: National Resource Corporation 1995-2005). Currently, more than 1000 physicians practice at Presbyterian Hospital, providing more than 70 specialty services to tens of thousands of patients every year. Presbyterian Hospital's latest $55 million expansion added 150,000 square feet of new space to the Women's Center, the Children's Medical Center and the Heart Center. As a major critical-care facility, Presbyterian Hospital provides an ideal environment for physician specialists to come together routinely to share best practices and recommend new technologies and procedures to advance patient care. Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital in Albuquerque's northeast heights provides general medical, surgical and emergency services and houses Presbyterian's Cancer Treatment Center, Behavioral Health Center, Kaseman Arthritis Center as well as many other outpatient services. Both Presbyterian Hospital and Kaseman Hospital are among the first in the nation to protect patient safety through a multi-million dollar investment in fully automated medication delivery systems which electronically track all prescription medications from the pharmacy shelf to the patient's bedside. As an early adopter of this new technology, Presbyterian is doing more to ensure that each of the 2.4 million prescription doses delivered annually at our hospitals is given exactly as the doctor ordered.
