EchoStar Corporation (EchoStar), formerly EchoStar Holding Corporation, will operate two primary businesses: digital set-top box business and a fixed satellite services business. EchoStar had a spin-off from DISH Network on January 1, 2008. The Company’s set-top box business designs, develops and distributes set-top boxes and related products for direct-to-home satellite service providers. EchoStar’s set-top boxes are sold to DISH Network, but it also sold a number of set-top boxes to Bell ExpressVu and other international customers. EchoStar’s fixed satellite services business is developed using its eight owned or leased in-orbit satellites and related The Federal Communications Commission licenses, a network of seven full service digital broadcast centers, and leased fiber optic capacity with points of presence in approximately 150 cities.
