Nassau offers Long Island's top Level 1 Trauma Center, which treats more than 50 percent of all serious traumas in Nassau County. Today its staff of approximately 3,500 treats more than 82,000 persons annually in the NUMC Emergency Department and more than 200,000 in over 85 specialized clinics.
