The Tarmac Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglo American plc, is the UK market leader in the supply of aggregates, mortar, concrete blocks and asphalt, and is number two in ready-mixed concrete. Tarmac employs more than 10,000 people across 600 locations in 12 countries with operations in mainland Europe, and in the Middle and Far East. In the UK the company is split into four self-standing regional businesses, Tarmac Northern, Tarmac Central, Tarmac Western and Tarmac Southern, all producing aggregate, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and mortar. Tarmac Central also produces cement, lime and industrial products. The company also has contracting, concrete products and recycling divisions that are run nationally.
