Assurant provides creditor-placed homeowners insurance, manufactured housing homeowners insurance, debt protection administration, credit insurance, warranties and extended service contracts, individual health and small employer group health insurance, group dental insurance, group disability insurance, group life insurance and pre-funded funeral insurance. Assurant operates through five segments: Assurant Solutions, Assurant Specialty Property, Assurant Health, Assurant Employee Benefits, and Corporate and Other. The Corporate and Other segment includes activities of the holding company. In October 2008, Assurant announced that it has completed its acquisition of Signal Holdings LLC, a provider of wireless handset protection programs and repair services, from Trident II L.P.
