Norwich Union insures one in five households, one in seven motor vehicles and more than 800,000 businesses in the UK. It is the leading long-term savings provider with a life market share of about 12 per cent and more than 6 million customers. Norwich Union is part of Aviva, the world's sixth-largest insurance group* which has £291 billion** of assets under management. Aviva has 60,000 employees serving 30 million customers worldwide. The Aviva brand name was launched in July 2002. The group was formed by the merger of CGU and Norwich Union in 2000. CGU came from the merger of Commercial Union and General Accident in 1998.
