In just a few short months he was so pleased with the revenues the device earned, he decided to buy a few himself, set them in other area stores and watch the pennies pile up. They did, and the pharmacist was hooked, so much that he prescribed the coin-operated business as his new occupational passion, sold his storefront, and began the Shaffer Coin Machine Company. Today, Pop's business has flourished into the nationally recognized Shaffer Distributing Company. From a single store on West Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio, to seven Customer Service Centers across the country, Pop's passion has been propelled over four generations.
