Description
South Somerset District Council (SSDC) serves the South Somerset district that extends from Wincanton in the East to Chard in the West, covering 370 square miles and a population of around 155,000 people spread among 121 parishes. SSDC has 60 members and approximately 550 full-time and part-time staff. Its main offices are in Chard, Langport, Wincanton and Yeovil. Facilities provided by the Council include the Careline Community Alarm Control Centre; Community Resource Centre and Scrapstore; Goldenstones Pools and Leisure Centre; Ham Hill Country Park; Langport & River Parrett Visitor Centre; Museum of South Somerset; the Octagon Theatre and South Somerset Tourist Information Centre.
