Description

Bendle High School has been providing quality education to students since the first graduating class back in 1931. Currently, over 350 students in grades 9 - 12 receive outstanding services from 20 teachers, one career resource center coordinator, one counselor and one social worker. In addition, a support staff including a full time tutor, two secretaries, custodians, cooks, and bus drivers contribute to the warm, close-knit community here at Bendle. We offer a small school setting with a large school curriculum, providing 46 different courses on site. Our curriculum is enhanced by student participation in the countywide distance learning GenNET project. In the past seven years, students have taken Calculus, Astronomy, Psychology, and American Sign Language, Japanese, Criminal Justice, Broadcasting, Marine Biology, Sports Medicine, Intro to Law, German and French. In addition, over 70 students were enrolled in the Genesee Area Skill Center, where they participated in programs ranging from Auto Mechanics to Robotics. Also, we follow state dual enrollment guidelines that allow students to acquire college credit while attending high school. Last year five students were dual enrolled at either Mott Community College or U-M Flint. Our building also houses over 100 desktop computers and we will be bringing in 90 new laptop computers in the fall of 2006. Extracurricular clubs and organizations, such as Science Club, Power Lifting, National Honor Society, Student Council, SADD, and Service Learning, in addition to curricular programs such as band, senior project, and manufacturing technology provide additional learning experiences beyond the regular classroom. Finally, six male and female interscholastic sport teams participate in Genesee Area Conference and non-league events. Bendle High School students have been accepted to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the United States.
