Description
The FRCC is committed to modernizing the hopper car fleet to support Canada's international competitiveness in agriculture and to ensuring that western Canadian farmers always have sufficient car supply to meet their global market obligations.
"I was extremely impressed with the depth of Minister Lapierre's understanding of this file and, at the request of Transport Canada officials, our meeting with the Minister is to be followed up with an all day meeting with them on September 23rd in Ottawa to finalize details," Harrison concluded.
The FRCC is the largest single-issue farm organization in the history of Canada, with a Board having representatives from 15 major farm groups. The FRCC was formed in 1996 to ensure that the disposal of the federal hopper car fleet does not diminish the benefits farmers have historically enjoyed from government ownership of the hopper car fleet.
