A few examples:Cancer Care Louisiana has a higher rate of deaths associated with cancer, so we invested millions in technology, facilities, and expertise to make advanced treatment options available at our Pennington Cancer Center. We provide the latest targeted radiation therapies for breast and prostate cancer. Heart Care Because heart disease is the leading cause of death in Louisiana, the General has built Womack Heart Center. In fact, our hospital was rated best in Baton Rouge for Cardiology.* Heart care continues to be a priority for us: According to Journal of the American Medical Association 2004, approximately 30% of our residents died from heart disease. Baton Rouge General has become known as the region's Hospital for Heart due to our number one ranking in Cardiology by HealthGrades for the last six years. Neonatal Care We have the most sophisticated care available for newborns , a Level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
