Description
USSD provides a nationwide forum for the varied professional disciplines involved in water resources projects including: engineering; planning; construction and rehabilitation; operation and maintenance; physical, environmental and social science; finance; economics; and law. We hold an annual meeting and conference with technical sessions and study tours. We publish technical reports on a variety of technical and contemporary issues. We organize and participate in national and international technical seminars. USSD also funds scholarships for students enrolled in dam-related studies.
We are engineers, physical, environmental and social scientists, economists, contractors, academicians, managers and other professionals with a common interest - dams and sustainable water resources projects.
If you are a Water Resources professional I encourage and invite you to join USSD and participate in our activities. Take a few minutes to browse through our web site. Our technical committees are quite active and embrace all areas of dam engineering and science from foundations to environmental effects to construction and rehabilitation to dam decommissioning. Whether you work in government, the private sector, or academia, you are welcomed to USSD.
If you need additional information about USSD or the role of dams in water resource development, I encourage you to contact the appropriate Committee Chair or our Executive Director, Larry Stephens.
