Analysts are warning that China risks serious social instability unless it quickly tackles widespread discontent over land seizures carried out by regional officials in recent weeks.

The Agence France Presse reports that violent public protests throughout China are steadily increasing, and citizen dissatisfaction with authorities have already sparked three violent clashes, underscoring what increasingly looks like a breakdown of the social contract between local party mandarins and citizens.
