Description

Established in 1987, RML Specialty Hospital primarily focused on treating and weaning patients dependent on mechanical ventilators, and today is the largest single ventilator weaning hospital in the nation. Our scope expanded several years ago with the addition of our Wound Management and Medically Complex programs. In 2003 and again in 2005, the National Association of Long-term Care Hospitals recognized RML's innovative methodologies in wound management with prestigious best practice awards.

Our Medically Complex program brings the expertise of RML and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) together to provide the very best in medical treatment and rehabilitation therapies for those suffering from multiple conditions.

Most recently, RML added its Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation program, which offers treatment and training to non-ventilator-dependent patients suffering from various respiratory conditions. Participants in the outpatient program work with therapists over the course of 10 weeks to improve their respiratory functions and become more independent.

Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations (JCAHO), RML is the result of a partnership between Rush University Medical Center and Loyola University Health System.
