D.R. Horton, Inc. is a homebuilding company in the United States. The Company constructs and sells homes through its operating divisions in 27 states and 77 metropolitan markets of the United States, primarily under the name of D.R. Horton, America’s Builder. The Company’s operating segments consist of six homebuilding segments and a financial services segment. During the fiscal year ended September 30, 2008 (fiscal 2008), the Company’s homebuilding operations consisted of approximately 98% of consolidated revenues. Its financial services segment generates its revenues from originating and selling mortgages and collecting fees for title insurance agency and closing services. During fiscal 2008, the sale of detached homes generated approximately 77% of home sales revenues.
