Summary

Industry:  Charitable Organizations & Foundations

Description
The Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA was founded in 1921 with an original building constructed at the corner of Lake Avenue and High Street in Metuchen. The funding for this facility was provided in the bequest of Charles Edgar, whose company Edgar Clay and Mineral was a leading corporation in both New Jersey and Georgia during this period.

Over the years the YMCA has changed and grown, but remains true to its original mission of developing the whole person- body, mind, and spirit. The warmth and support envisioned by Mr. Edgar in founding the YMCA remains alive today.

The YMCA currently has three full facility Branches in Metuchen, Edison, and Woodbridge as well as ten off site child care centers, eleven summer day camps, and four outdoor pools. In addition, you will find the YMCA operating in dozens of other smaller sites providing programs for all ages and abilities.
