Quidel Corporation is engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of rapid diagnostic solutions at the professional point-of-care (POC) in infectious diseases, reproductive and women’s health. The Company focuses on POC testing solutions specifically developed for the physician office lab (POL) and acute care markets globally. It sells its products to professionals for use in physician offices, hospitals, clinical laboratories and wellness screening centers. In addition to its rapid diagnostic business, the Company also develops research products through its Specialty Products Group (the SPG), with an emphasis on potential future rapid test applications. The SPG is responsible for more than 100 of its clinical and research products used worldwide in reference laboratories and in research applications at universities and biotechnology companies. Its provides rapid POC and other diagnostic tests under brand names, including QuickVue, QuickVue+, QuickVue Advance and Metra.
