China United Communications Corporation Limited, the second largest nation-wide communications carrier in China, was formed on July 19, 1994. China Unicom is a limited responsibility corporation, currently having 300 branch offices and 11 subsidiaries in 30 provinces, autonomous regions and the cities directly affiliated to the central government. On June 21 and 22, 2000, China Unicom Limited went public in New York and Hong Kong.
