Summary

Industry:  Broadcasting, Television Stations

Description
The News Media Guild filed an unfair labor practice charge with the U.S. National Labor Relations Board May 31, alleging that The Associated Press improperly created work rules for its unionized Library and Sales staff.

The Guild contends the new standards were imposed unilaterally without prior bargaining, as the law requires. The union has offered to bargain new standards -- if required by law -- that don't conflict with the current contract.

The NLRB is the federal agency charged with enforcing collective bargaining laws. An NLRB agent is investigating the Guild's complaint.
