Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency

Description

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) is an independent government agency reporting directly to the Minister of the Environment. It promotes environmental assessment as a planning tool to protect and sustain a healthy environment. In response to the SLDF petition, the CEAA engaged a mediator in early 2001 and coordinated a successful dispute resolution process. This resulted in agreement among the interested parties that the land be secured for conservation through a sale to NCC.
