Description

Cotton Australia (formerly the Australian Cotton Foundation) was established in 1972 to support Australia's cotton farmers and to represent their interests. In the early days, it was largely a public relations company that was involved in lobbying and managing the media.

For the first 17 years of its life, Cotton Australia was funded by a grower's per bale contribution of 23 cents. In 1989 grower contributions were raised to $1 per bale and the organisation became an incorporated body with its own offices and an expanded charter.

Today, the organisation is very different to what it was in 1972. It is a dynamic company working in a number of program areas including Grower Services, Policy and Advocacy and Communication.
