MedCath Corporation (MedCath) is a healthcare provider focused primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The Company owns and operates hospitals in partnership with physicians. It has ownership interests in and operates 11 hospitals, including nine, in which it owns a majority interest. Each of its majority-owned hospitals is a freestanding, licensed general acute care hospital that provides a range of health services with a focus on cardiovascular care. Each of its hospitals has a 24-hour emergency room staffed by emergency department physicians. The hospitals, in which the Company has ownership interests have a total of 667 licensed beds and are located in eight states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Louisiana, New Mexico, Ohio, South Dakota and Texas. In May 2008, MedCath, its physician partners and Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, jointly announced that the parties have completed the sale of Dayton Heart Hospital to Good Samaritan Hospital.
