Description
Cinesite is one of the largest full-service visual effects and post production facilities in the world, providing services as diverse as digital effects, physical effects, model construction and unit photography, film scanning, laser recording and visual effects supervision. They have built a prestigious list of credits, including current and recent productions Underdog, Omen 666, X-Men: The Last Stand, V For Vendetta, Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.

Officially opened in 1992 under the auspices of Eastman Kodak, Cinesite, based in the UK and servicing international film and television productions, is one of the largest and most diverse visual imaging facilities in the world.

The first assignment of Cinesite's original Hollywood premises was to restore the Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Within two years, their success and reputation had grown and digital effects work was being won on other major new feature films.

In 1994, the success of Cinesite Hollywood spread, with the doors of Cinesite (Europe) Ltd opening for the first time in London. In their early years of operation, both companies completed work on films including Cliffhanger, Last Action Hero, True Lies, First Knight, Mission: Impossible and Waterworld.

During this period of growth, Cinesite's film scanning and laser recording services continued to flourish, utilising cutting edge imaging technology developed in conjunction between in-house imaging specialists and Kodak. Cinesite currently uses an array of cutting edge scanners and recorders from Northlight, ARRI and Cineon to work on in-house productions. They also operate a highly successful bureau business which services productions and facilities all over the world.

Cinesite's acquisition of Pinewood Studios based physical effects company Effects Associates in 1999 was followed by their successful move into model construction and photography early in 2003, immediately winning a major contract on Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

Cinesite's London based effects have become a major player in the European visual effects industry, winning their third Emmy nomination and first Royal Television Society award for digital effects on the epic ten episode television series Band of Brothers in 2001.

In 2003, Cinesite moved to new and spacious, purpose built offices in Medius House, Soho. Also in August 2003, Kodak announced its acquisition of Laser Pacific in Hollywood, one of the world's foremost post production digital lab studios. Their services include Digital Telecine, Editing and Graphics, Motion Picture Mastering, DVD Authoring, Encoding and Design, High Definition and Sound Services.

As part of the umbrella of Kodak post production services, Cinesite now encompasses the entire spectrum of visual effects and post production; its reputation for contributing to the art and science of digital effects has assured Cinesite's position as an industry leader.
