Summary

Description
The National Organization for College Placement is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2003 to help high school students with College Admissions- focusing on underprivileged communities. In its brief existence, NOCP has already established local college chapters throughout the nation. These local chapters make presentations about college admissions in nearby high schools. The organization operates on the giving nature of its many volunteers who come from all religious, ethnic and racial groups and come from all over the country. NOCP is the alternative to the less fortunate that cannot afford the high priced college consultants and do not receive the needed individualized attention from guidance counselors in overcrowded public schools. Unlike many outreach organizations, NOCP does not focus on test preparation as part its seminars. Instead, its primary objective is to teach college admissions strategies, such as how to analyze college statistics, how to choose between colleges and how to increase ones chance of admissions by knowing how to market an application to a particular college. NOCP is able to do this through its high school presentations and with the publication of the book Reaching the Ivory Tower: College Admissions and Beyond (Empire Publishing).
