Loughborough University has been at the forefront of university research and teaching since receiving its University Charter in 1966. Located in the heart of England near to the cities of Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, Loughborough University operates on a single site covering 223 acres, containing plenty of open space, garden areas and sporting facilities.

The university is one of the top five engineering universities in the UK, with an average teaching quality score of 22 out of 24 and with over £12 million of research contracts awarded each year. Within the Faculty of Engineering there are six departments: Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Civil and Building Engineering; Electronic and Electrical Engineering; Manufacturing Engineering; and Mechanical Engineering. Each department boasts an impressive range of specialist laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment for teaching and research.

Recently, the university completed a new £14 million Engineering Complex, making Loughborough University's Faculty of Engineering the largest of its kind in the UK.
