Description

The Northern California Water Association (Sacramento, CA) is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Executive Director. A private, non-profit organization formed in 1992, NCWA advocates and promotes the economic, social and environmental viability of the greater Sacramento Valley by preserving and enhancing water rights, supplies and water quality for more than 70 agricultural water suppliers, five national wildlife refuges, and over 50 state wildlife management areas, small communities, and local governments. The Executive Director provides strategic insight to accelerate NCWA's mission by working closely with NCWA's 70 members, landowners, and regional leaders, along with numerous government offices, lobbyists, law firms, scientists, and others. The Executive Director is appointed by an 18 member Board of Directors, leads 4 staff plus consulting service contracts, and oversees a $2.5 million operating budget. The ideal candidate will be an experienced advocate and leader, knowledgeable in public water resources and policies, experienced working with State and Federal legislative and regulatory officials, and possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. This energetic, passionate and strategic professional will be politically savvy, an effective problem solver, work effectively with a diverse range of people, and bring a demonstrated track record of integrity and sound fiscal and staff management. Experience in California or agriculture is desirable, but not required.
