Description
Freeborn & Peters believes that a diverse workforce at all levels of our law firm will foster a more professional environment, create a more enriching work experience for all personnel, and maximize our ability to provide exceptional legal services to our clients. We understand that creating a diverse workplace goes beyond fostering opportunity for people of all races, genders, or sexual orientations. It means creating an environment where each individual is treated with dignity and afforded the opportunity to achieve his or her maximum potential. That is why diversity and mutual respect are mentioned in the Firm's Statement of Values as key components in Freeborn & Peters' unique culture. Freeborn & Peters also recognizes that achieving these goals requires more than mere words, it requires the unfailing commitment of our partnership, the personal commitment of each and every one of our professionals and employees, the dedication of resources, and, most importantly, constant and persistent action. We, at Freeborn & Peters, are firmly committed to furthering the diversity of our law firm and providing meaningful opportunities for professional growth and advancement to all. And we demonstrate this commitment in our actions. Freeborn & Peters' Diversity Committee spearheads the Firm's diversity actions. The Diversity Committee reports directly to the entire partnership, and its members include one of the Firm's Managing Partners, the Chief Operating Officer, the Chair of the Recruiting Committee, the Chairs of the Women's Leadership Counsel affinity group, the Director of Human Resources, and a member of the Professional Review Committee. The Diversity Committee's mission is to stimulate, nurture and encourage a firm culture that advocates inclusion and celebrates the different backgrounds and perspectives of our attorneys and other personnel. To accomplish this, the Diversity Committee identifies and promotes opportunities to recruit, hire, develop, promote and retain the most qualified attorneys representing the varied viewpoints and experiences of different races, ethnic groups, genders, sexual orientations, ages, religions, national origins and disabilities. The Diversity Committee also identifies and promotes opportunities to enhance mutual understanding, respect and appreciation of the different points of view and life experiences that each individual contributes to the workplace. As part of its diversity efforts, Freeborn & Peters also sponsors and participates in numerous conferences and activities. For example, Freeborn & Peters has been a proud sponsor of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association's Midwest Region Annual Dinner, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Annual Convention, as well as other events organized by various bar associations in the area of diversity. Freeborn & Peters is also a member of the Chicago Committee for Minorities in Large Law Firms and a supporter of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and its diversity conferences.
