Description
Founded in 1987, The Behavioral Institute of Atlanta is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to the treatment of a wide range of behavioral, emotional, and learning problems of children, adolescents, and adults. To reach that goal, we take many paths. In addition to a regular practice, each staff member has one or more areas of specialization. Various members of the staff also collaborate to run team-based specialty clinics. In addition to providing evaluation and therapy services, we are involved in creating and developing therapeutic materials, providing training and supervision to other professionals, and offering educational experiences to the community at large. Our philosophy is a simple one:
"Change, while sometimes difficult, is possible at any age."
One key element to success is cooperation among participants. We view evaluations and therapy not as something imposed upon a person, but rather as a collaborative effort in which we work together setting goals and addressing problems. At times, we find it is beneficial to expand the team. When mutually agreed upon, the process might include parents, other family members, teachers, physicians and other specialists.
