Old American is a single-state county mutual insurance company formed on August 10, 1946, under Chapter 17 of the Texas Insurance Code and operates under Chapter 912 of the Texas Insurance Code. The company has a tradition in serving the higher risk insurance needs of the public at affordable rates and reasonable payment terms. Rates are uniquely determined and, for exempt county mutuals, there are no involuntary assignments of assigned risk drivers.

The Company is owned by the policyholders and managed by Old American Holdings LLC. Old American has a NR-3 rating from AM Best Company since it does not retain at least 25% of its gross Premium writings. Substantially all our business is reinsured with capable reinsurers who are highly capitalized or collateralize their reinsurance balances to the Company.
