Extendicare Real Estate Investment Trust (Extendicare REIT) is an open-ended real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, is a provider of long-term care and related services in North America with 269 nursing and assisted living facilities and capacity for approximately 30,300 residents as at December 31, 2007. In the United States, Extendicare Health Services, Inc. (EHSI) operates 191 senior care facilities and offers a continuum of health care services, including nursing care, assisted living and related medical services, such as subacute care and rehabilitative therapy. Extendicare (Canada) Inc. (ECI) operates 78 senior care facilities, 71% of which are located in Ontario, and, through ParaMed Home Health Care, is a provider of home health care in Ontario and Alberta. On October 31, 2007, EHSI acquired Tendercare (Michigan) Inc. In January 2008, ECI acquired LTC Professional Insurance Company, Ltd.
