Industry:  Membership Organizations

Description
NAIW is a close group of people, friends of the closest kind. As we checked into the hotel on Friday afternoon, the "seasoned" members were greeted by their NAIW friends. "Hi," "How are you?" and "How is the Family" were just several of the greetings that they were confronted with. I stood awestruck by the number of people that approached and greeted those in our group - Could NAIW really bring those types of friendships? I would quickly learn the answer is yes. In addition to knowing I stood to make many new friends that weekend, I realized what NAIW really has to offer.

Each member receives the newsletter from our State Director, Polly, as well as the newsletter from national, but does anyone realize the potential that each of us has in NAIW? I do not think so. I knew there were State, Regional and National conferences, but I did not realize that I could someday participate in these conferences and even serve on committees for these conferences. After State Day I realized the potential that NAIW has to offer its members. For those who wish to get involved in this organization beyond the local level the possibilities are endless. While at State Day, I realized that NAIW places no limitations on where one can go - the sky is the limit with NAIW. One will get out of NAIW what they put in.

That weekend I made many new friends, met a lot of new and interesting people, but above all I formed new bonds with members of our own association. Spending six hours in a car with someone tends to do that. Beyond that, I think we each walked away that weekend with a better understanding of each other and a newfound friendship. If not given the opportunity to attend State Day, I would have never experienced the potential I have within NAIW and above all I would have missed out on the opportunity to form new friendships and to become closer with members of our own association. State Council Day was an experience above any other I have had the chance to experience and the friendships formed will last throughout my involvement in NAIW and possibly even beyond. In one weekend, I learned that while State Day is an important Business meeting where many changes that affect us all can take place, it is beyond that. It is about the networking, the friendships formed and the realization of potential that each of us has in NAIW.
