The Weight Loss Index was created by Melissa Socha back in 1997 when surfing the web was still fairly new. Her main goal was to share information on how to lose weight effectively to the faithful people who visited her site. Melissa has a background in weight loss, fitness and nutrition and even owns a successful weight loss center in Michigan. Over the years the site has grown and gone through many different changes. Melissa's sister, Shelley Smith who has a background in editing, web design and marketing joined Melissa back in 2000 and is now senior editor of the site. They work together along with several other editors to continuously add fresh new content to the site and to keep visitors informed of the latest weight loss and health related information, products and services.

The Weight Loss Index is currently one of the largest resources of weight loss and health related information on the web and continues to grow everyday.

The Weight Loss Index proudly receives over 20,000 visitors each day looking specifically for weight loss and health related resources, products and services.
