Description
The Doe Fund's Development Department raised $7.4 million from more than 50,000 individuals in support of the "men in blue"-up from $6.5 million in 2006. The Doe Fund family welcomed 1,794 new people who gave their first donations in 2007. The Foundation and Corporate Grants Department raised $2.9 million, up from $2.1 million in 2006. The Doe Fund's new Human Capital Campaign, which launched in November, has raised $3,850,000 in support of our criminal justice programs. We project that we will raise our goal of $9,000,000 over the next 18 months.

On Thursday, October 25th, The Doe Fund held its 13th annual "What New York Needs" Gala. The Gala honored New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. Matt Lauer, co-host of NBC News TODAY, served as Master of Ceremonies. The Gala raised nearly $2 million for The Doe Fund's Ready, Willing & Able program. Held each year to honor the "men in blue" of The Doe Fund's highly visible and extremely popular Ready, Willing & Able program, the Gala brings together more than 700 New Yorkers including leaders in real estate, finance, and entertainment. The Gala also honors an individual New Yorker for outstanding dedication to the cause of ending homelessness. This year's Honoree was selected for his years of advocacy for the homeless and for his work in advancing social justice. Our theme this year, "Work Is Love Made Visible," was brought to life by Emmy Award- winning Director, Jeremy Kagan, whose documentary on RWA premiered at the evening's event.

In November, The Doe Fund launched its Human Capital Campaign, a special fundraising effort that will exclusively support its Ready, Willing & Able-Day program. Still in its quiet phase, the campaign has secured more than $4 million in private support from individuals. Our overall goal in 2008 is to raise an additional $5 million to help those who want to return to the economic sector as law-abiding, productive members of society.

The Doe Fund is proud to participate in the Better Business Bureau Charity Seal Program, which is an easily recognizable symbol to donors that our organization has met the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability. The 20 Standards evaluate charities' financial accountability, governance and oversight, effectiveness measures and fundraising and informational materials. We have met the Better Business Bureau's Standards every year since the program's inception three years ago. Being able to display the "Wise Giving Alliance Standard Seal" on all printed and digital materials assures donors that The Doe Fund holds itself to the highest ethical standards of finance and governance.
