HSBC Finance Corporation (HSBC Finance) is an indirect subsidiary of HSBC North America Holdings Inc. (HSBC North America), a bank holding company, and an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc. The Company provides middle-market consumers in the United States and Canada with several types of loan products. HSBC Finance Corporation is the principal fund raising vehicle for the operations of its subsidiaries. The Company operates in three segments: Consumer, Credit Card Services, and International. Its Consumer segment consists of consumer lending, mortgage services, retail services and auto finance businesses. Its Credit Card Services segment includes its domestic MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover credit card business. In May 2007, the Company decided to integrate its Retail Services and Credit Card Services businesses.
