Datascope Corp. is a diversified medical device company that develops, manufactures and markets products for clinical health care markets in interventional cardiology and radiology, cardiovascular and vascular surgery, and critical care. The Company has two segments: Cardiac Assist Products and Vascular Products. The Cardiac Assist segment accounts for 87% of total sales during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2008 (fiscal 2008). The Cardiac Assist Products segment sells intra-aortic balloon (IAB) pumps and catheters, endoscopic vessel harvesting products, and the Safeguard assisted pressure device. The Vascular Products segment sells a line of knitted and woven polyester vascular grafts and patches for reconstructive vascular and cardiovascular surgery, peripheral vascular stent products, and stent grafts. On August 6, 2008, it completed the sale of assets related to the VasoSeal, On-Site, and X-Site vascular closure devices, and its collagen operations to St. Jude Medical, Inc.
