Jonathan Stern founded ZoomInfo (formerly Eliyon Technologies Corporation) in 2000 and is its chief executive officer and chief scientist. For more than 30 years Stern has been active in research in cognitive sciences, developing useful products based on algorithms which track the way people reason. In 1993, Stern founded CardScan (formerly Corex Technologies Corp.) and was president and CEO from the company's inception to its acquisition in 2006. Under his leadership, CardScan became the leading business card reading solution, reaching over 90% market share due to its superior character and text recognition and parsing algorithms. In 1999, CardScan was named in Inc. Magazine's prestigious Inc. 500 list as one of the fastest growing private companies in America. In 1998, 1999, and 2001, Stern was a finalist in Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year" award competition. Before CardScan, Stern co-founded ServiceSoft (formerly Rosh Intelligent Systems), where he served as president and CEO for 10 years. ServiceSoft was a leading provider of expert system tools designed for the diagnostic, repair and maintenance of complicated equipment. Key customers included field service organizations of companies like Xerox, Applied Materials, Philips and Siemens. ServiceSoft was acquired by Kana Software, Inc. where its powerful and flexible expert system is being used for online self-service applications. Prior to Rosh, Stern served in the Israeli Army for five years, advancing to the rank of Major. During his service, the President of the State of Israel awarded Stern a medal of distinction for outstanding technical achievements contributing to the security of the country. Stern earned both a master's and bachelor's degree cum laude in computer science from The Technion, Israel's most prestigious institute of technology. |

Michel Décary, Co-Founder and Senior Scientist Web Profile: www.zoominfo.com/MichelDecary With 20 years of natural language processing experience, Michel Décary co-founded ZoomInfo and serves as its senior scientist. He is responsible for developing the company's core technology. Prior to ZoomInfo, in 1998, Décary founded Cogilex R&D, Inc., a supplier of natural language processing software tools, where he designed new methods for syntactical parsing based on the dependency syntax theory and developed a new approach to rule-driven semantic extraction. Cogilex tools are used by a variety of innovative service providers and major corporations. From 1994 to 1997, Décary was a lecturer at McGill University and a research associate with the Laboratory of Applied Cognitive Science where he worked on computer-based text analysis and representation. He co-authored several papers and book chapters about his Coda-X system for the semantic analysis of English text. From 1989 to 1994, Décary was the CEO of Neurox Research, Inc., a Montreal-based company specializing in natural language processing primarily for the Canadian Armed Forces. Prior to Neurox, Decary co-founded Logiciels Machina Sapiens, Inc. in 1985 and was its president until 1989. While at Machina Sapiens, he designed the company's first version of an award-winning French grammatical checker. In 1989, Machina Sapiens won the prestigious MICA award for research excellence by CIEQ (Conseil de l'industrie électronique du Québec) and its current products are considered among the best in the world in its category. Décary holds a B.A. in linguistics and an M.Sc. in computer science from Université de Montréal. He also pursued doctoral studies in computational linguistics at Université de Montréal and in applied linguistics at McGill University. |
